Music has always been important in my life. The first record I bought was Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66 “ the Look of Love. The first concert I attended was Led Zeppelin at the old Keira Stadium in San Francisco. I have seen many more over the years…Sinatra, Streisand, ELP, ELO, Willie Nelson, et al.
There is a soundtrack to our lives that includes music, places. Rock and roll is that for me. The museum brought back a lot of memories. Concerts I went to, people I met.
Back in the 70's I took a History of Rock and Roll class and the instructor started with Alan Freed. Freed was a DJ in Cleveland in the early 1950's and he coined the term "Rock and Roll". This is why Cleveland considers itself the "birthplace of Rock and Roll.
I have always wanted to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But being that it is in Cleveland, I didn’t ever get the chance. Then a graduation and wedding two weeks apart in Kansas and Cleveland now was closer.
From the outside, the building stands out among the buildings downtown and at the harbor. The architect is I. M. Pei.

If you have been to the Louvre in Paris you will recognize his architectural style.
The Rock Hall as it is known by the locals is on six floors of the pyramid. Over 50% of the exhibits are on the lower floor and the basement.
Upon entering the Rock Hall you see a very modern structure with stairs, girders, and glass.

Some pictures of the exhibits…

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a must for all music lovers.
